‘Cabbage is home!’: BBC presenter’s missing pet found after dog walker’s van stolen with animals inside

Written by on November 12, 2021

A BBC presenter’s collie that went missing after a dog walker’s van was stolen is now safely back with her family.

“Cabbage is home!”, Rory Cellan-Jones tweeted, along with a picture of his pet next to some food, water, and a tennis ball.

The black-and-white hound was one of six dogs in the van when it was taken in Acton, west London, at about 10am on Friday morning.

Five of them have now been discovered “wandering around Park Royal together”, Diane Coyle said on Twitter.

A cockapoo is still missing.

Earlier, Mr Cellan-Jones told his 192,000 followers that “something terrible has happened”.

He added: “Our dog walker’s van with our dog Cabbage in it has been stolen while he was picking up another pet.”

More on Crime

He asked people to look out for a black Ford Transit with the licence plate AF20 XZD.

“Take a photo and DM me or just ring the police,” he added.

Scotland Yard said it was called to Erconwald St at 10.11am to reports of a stolen van containing six dogs.

Mr Cellan-Jones told Friday magazine he has owned Cabbage for 12 years after rescuing the “nervous young dog” from a sanctuary.

He said: “Cabbage has the sweetest nature and has never given us any trouble.

“In general she combines the gentlest temperament with the characteristic collie intelligence.”

Mr Cellan-Jones regularly posts photos of Cabbage on social media.
