Police statement after major cordon set up near quiet street in Sherwood

Two men were arrested after a police chase on a ‘quiet’ street left neighbours in shock.

It comes as a number of streets in Carrington were cordoned off on Sunday night (January 30) and stayed closed throughout the next day.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed officers remained in the area carrying out further investigations.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “Two men were arrested shortly after a car was pulled over in Mayo Road, Carrington, shortly before 8pm yesterday (Sunday).

“Officers chased one suspect on foot and detained him on nearby Bernard Street. Two men, aged 30 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess criminal property.

“They remain in police custody.

“Police remained in the area for some time afterwards while a detailed search for potential evidence was carried out.”
