Businesses have shared their thoughts over resurfacing works that will close major roads nearby.

Major roads in the West Bridgford area will be closed and lengthy diversion routes will be in place.

The first phase of work takes place from February 21 to February 28, where A60 Loughborough Road will be closed southbound from its junctions with Rushworth Avenue to its junction with A606 Melton Road.

Matthew Hutchinson, 28, a lettings agent at WB Lets Ltd, says the works will affect the business and parking.

He said: “We get contractors and a lot of deliveries at different times in the day, so it will impact that.

“We get deliveries throughout the week, it is better that the works are overnight.

“It’ll cause less of a problem at night, it will affect parking round the back for people coming into work, but it won’t be too bad.”

A606 Melton Road will also be closed between its junctions with A60 Loughborough Road and Victoria Road.

These roads will be closed overnight, from 8pm to 6am.

Julie Clark, 57, co-owner of Arles Motor Co on Loughborough Road, says the road is in need of repairs and is relieved the works will be happening overnight.

She said: “If it was in the daytime I wouldn’t be happy.

“It would disrupt our business but luckily it won’t affect us at all.

“The road has been dreadful there are loads of potholes.

“It’s rubbish and needs repairing.”

The second phase of work takes place from March 24 to March 29.

A60 Loughborough Road will be closed between its junctions with Wilford Lane and a point 80 metres south of that junction.

Donna Jacques, 49, who works at EMZ Aesthetics, says it will effect the business but understands the work is essential.

She said: “I wasn’t aware of it happening but I hope it will only be for that week, there isn’t much we can do about it.

“It’ll affect the business massively but if it has to be done, it has to be done.”

Work will be carried out by Via East Midlands on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council.
