Fire service statement

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said four fire engines were at the scene: crews from the Heanor, Ilkeston, Ripley and Eastwood fire stations.

“The fire is still burning,” she said, adding there were no reported injuries.

The fire service also requested the assistance of the police.

“We have requested their assistance, it’s the main thoroughfare,” the fire service spokeswoman added.

Drivers have been told to avoid the area and with that subsequent delays.

When asked where exactly the fire had broken out, the spokeswoman said: “It’s on Station Road, there’s nothing more than I can give you than that.”
