A man has died after being assaulted in Nottingham city centre. There are several police vehicles at the scene. Upper Parliament Street was closed off in the early hours of Sunday, April 24.

It is believed he was attacked moments beforehand in nearby Broad Street. A police cordon has been established in the area and will remain in place for much of the day. Traffic diversions will also be in place.

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said that nine of its bus services were unable to serve the street. In a tweet at around 7am, the operator said: “Lilac, Blue and Red Line services are diverting entering the City because of an incident on Parliament Street.”

The services affected are the 25,26,27,39,40,41,43 and 44. “Buses are normal route to Pryzm and will then divert via Glasshouse Street, left Huntingdon Street, left Woodborough Road, left Mansfield Road, straight on Milton Street and then right into Parliament Street to normal route and their King or Queen Street terminus,” they added.

It is unknown what nature of the incident is at this current time. This is a breaking incident, follow our live blog below for the latest. Nottinghamshire Live reporter Joel Moore is at the scene.
