The wife of a Bulwell man who died in a lorry crash has paid a heartfelt tribute to her ‘soulmate and best friend’ who was ‘loved in the community’. Dad-of-four Stephen Holleworth was driving a white Ford transit van when it hit a lorry on the A134 in Ingham, Suffolk, on Monday afternoon (April 25).

Mr Holleworth, who’d been driving through Suffolk for business, died at the scene. His grieving wife Michelle, 44, described him as a “loving, caring husband and father”.

The mum-of-four said: “We planned a lot of things together and I cannot bear the pain of losing my soulmate and best friend. Stephen was a family-oriented man. He lived for his family. He was passionate about his work.”

Mrs Holleworth and their four daughters – Lauren, 27, Ashleigh, 26, Rachel, 26, and 19-year-old Kayleigh – have set up a tribute GoFundMe page to raise cash for his funeral to give him “the send-off he deserves”.

Mr Holleworth was driving through Suffolk as part of a regular journey he made for the Platinum Sports Nutrition protein supplement business he co-owned with his wife. “He was always working, trying to provide for his family,” Mrs Holleworth added.

“He was really loved in the community and respected by many. He really loved his job.” Speaking about her father’s legacy, Ashleigh said she hoped people would remember him as an “amazing person” who “would do anything for anyone”.

She said: “My dad would always help people in need. He would give money and support people, without asking. I know it’s a cliché, but my dad was the most generous person I knew.

“His heart and soul were for his family. He was also very passionate about his bikes and cars.” The devoted daughter also said her dad was always making sure Mrs Holleworth was looked after.

“I have never seen love like that. They loved each other very much. Our lives have been shattered and we don’t know how to move forward,” Mr Holleworth’s daughter added.

Police were called out at just after 2.50pm on Monday to the crash. Ambulance and fire crews were also in attendance. A 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with the collision.

Kalin Angelov, of Pleven, Bulgaria, appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 27, charged with causing death by careless driving. His case has been sent to Ipswich Crown Court with a date to be confirmed.
