Nottinghamshire Police has issued a warning after a suspect was arrested on stalking offences. Officers in Mansfield arrested a 32-year-old man on the evening of Thursday, April 28, after they were alerted to a string of abusive phone calls allegedly made to his former partner.

The man was arrested at 10.15pm at a local address and was held on suspicion of stalking, causing fear of violence.

During National Stalking Awareness Week, Nottinghamshire Police is urging victims to seek help from the police at the earliest opportunity, and to reach out to the various local agencies that can offer them expert advice and support.

Detective Sergeant Paul Clark, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We treat reports of stalking offences extremely seriously and will always take robust action to help safeguard victims.

“In National Stalking Awareness Week we want to remind victims that we are here to help them 24 / 7 and are just a phone call away. So people committing these types of offences should be under no illusion – they could very well end up with a visit from the police.”
