Alex Belfield has appeared in court facing allegations of stalking. Belfield is representing himself at Nottingham Crown Court and has previously pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Belfield, of Shaldon Close in Mapperley, attended court on Monday, July 4 as the jury was sworn in ahead of the trial before Mr Justice Saini. John McGuinness QC is the prosecutor in the trial on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service.
The trial is expected to get underway on Tuesday, July 5 with opening arguments heard before witnesses are called to the stand. Belfield remains on conditional bail – the trial is expected to go on for around six weeks.
The court ruled that members of the press were allowed to include Belfield’s address as part of their reports into the case. Belfield had argued that there was “no benefit to it, other than putting me at risk”. Confirming that his address would go on public record, Mr Justice Saini said: “There is no order preventing the reporting of his [Belfield’s] address.”
