Surrounded by so many different types of food, it can be difficult to decide what to have – Download 2022 has an amazing choice of at least 25 types of cuisine – so when we asked our Download photographer Chris Gordon to select a dish to review it took a bit of time.

Having decided he wanted Mexican food, we headed for a stall selling it but Chris decided against it and, when Greek was suggested to him, we made our way to the Greek stall, only for Chris to make a sudden detour to – you guessed it – a different Mexican outlet next to it. The lure of Mexican spices was certainly calling to him.

He confessed he really fancied a burrito and ordered one with Cajun chicken and “everything in it”. This meant his wrap was soon straining with a mix of chicken, tabasco sauce, nacho bits, guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos, cheese, salsa and rice – all for the price of £12 – which Chris said he thought was reasonable “given we are at a festival”.

Taking the first bite, Chris declared it was “what you would expect to find on the high street”, but admitted the sauce was “fairly hot”. Giving it a mark out of 10, he said it deserved “a solid seven” and added: “It could have done with more onions and maybe a bit more spice rather than the heat of the sauce.”

Afterwards, Chris confessed that one of the best meals he ever had was in a restaurant in Tijuana in Mexico – so it would have been difficult for a burrito at Donington Park to match up it seems but it had a good go. Expect to pay higher prices for the convenience of having food readily available on the festival site with burgers around £10 on average, potions of chips £4.50- £5 and fish and chips £8 -£10.
