Caravans have pitched up in a field near Nottingham Powerleague. They were spotted near the popular playing pitches off Thane Road near Clifton Bridge in Nottingham on Thursday evening, June 16.

Pictures taken from the Nottingham Powerleague car park show a number of caravans in the field along with a group of people congregating nearby. The patch of land is used by local sports teams such as Dunkirk FC and Nottingham Unity Casuals cricket club – Michelin-star restaurant Sat Bains is also located close by, just off Lenton Lane. Riverside Family Golf Centre and Nottingham Outlaws rugby club also use the land.

Travellers were recently moved on from land near Victoria Embankment after council officials arrived last month, parking up near the War Memorial. Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live on May 16, a group of travellers said there was “nothing to be ashamed of” and expressed their affection towards the city of Nottingham.

Dad-of-two Lee McCann said: “I like Nottingham, everyone is friendly. But we had an incident yesterday with a young lad who was filming my children when they were just running around. I asked how he would feel if I came to his house and film his children without asking him first.

“I understand that not all travellers are as friendly as me, but you cannot judge a book by its cover. We are normal people, we just do not live in houses.”
