Heatwave set to hit parts of UK with temperatures reaching 32C

A summer heatwave is set to hit parts of the UK. Temperatures look set to hit 32C in central and eastern England on Thursday, with weather forecasters claiming that the mercury could be “well into the high 30s” for several days.

Met Office chief weather forecaster Paul Gundersen said that after some sunny weather this week, conditions will “return to near normal for the time of year” from next week, with highs of 20C expected. In Nottingham, precipitations are expected to hit the city for the first half of the week.

The rainy weather will calm down on Wednesday. We’re set to see some cooler air arrive across the UK from the start of this week, which will make things feel a bit fresher than of late. Mr Gundersen said: “The unsettled pattern is expected to continue to dominate into the start of next week.”

The Met Office’s Alex Deakin added: “If you’re not a fan of the warmth and humidity, then there’s good news, because this cold front is going to sweep away all that and introduce much fresher air. That cooler air will be in place through Saturday and lasting to Sunday.

“That low pressure system isn’t moving too far and another thing it’s going to do, with its isobars tightly packed, is bring some fairly gusty conditions.”

Leon Brown of US-based forecaster The Weather Company said: “More heatwaves imported from the continent to the UK are forecast this summer, each reaching at least 28C – and likely higher – and each lasting several days.”

And there’s more good news (hopefully) as it’s believed that two heatwaves could arrive in the UK in August, and maybe even in September, as more hot weather arrives from Europe. Here’s a look at the Met Office forecast for the coming weeks….

Met Office Forecast: Thursday, June 30 – Saturday July 9

Light rain will hit the area, changing to cloudy in the afternoon. Sunny intervals will be present, but the rain will dominate the skies.
