Hundreds of homes are planned to be built in a Nottinghamshire village. Housebuilder Avant Homes has purchased 25-acres of land on Shilo Way in Awsworth where it plans to deliver a £58m development of 250 homes.

The development will offer a mixture of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties across 15 house designs. Properties will range from a two-bedroom mid-terrace house to a five-bedroom detached property.

Of the 250 homes planned, 20 per cent will be designated to affordable housing. Subject to planning approval, construction will begin in November with the first homes set to go up for sale in early 2023.

The build length of the development is expected to be around four years, which the developer says will create 120 jobs. In addition to the new-build homes, Avant Homes have said they will commit a community contribution of £1.7m to support local education, public transport, and open green space maintenance.

Avant Homes Central managing director, Chris Coley, said: “Awsworth is very desirable location and if granted planning, this new development will provide much-needed high quality homes for buyers in the area.

“We are committed to creating developments that offer well-designed homes in excellent locations that meet the needs of modern lifestyles. This development will offer all that and more and we look forward to the planning decision in due course.” The application is currently pending planning consideration by Broxtowe Borough Council.
