Trams were unable to serve a string of stops on Saturday afternoon, July 2. According to operator NET, for a period there was no service between Meadows Way West and the University of Nottingham.

It meant that the NG2, Gregory Street and Queen’s Medical Centre stops were also out of action on the line from Hucknall to Toton Lane. Bus company NCT was accepting NET tram tickets.

The reason for the disruption remained unclear. NET had said there was ‘significant travel disruption’ on the network. A statement on the NET website added: “We have no service between Meadows Way West and University Boulevard on the Hucknall / Toton Lane Line. Trams heading towards Toton Lane will terminate at Meadows Way West.

“Trams leaving Toton Lane towards Hucknall will terminate at University Boulevard. NCT Orange Line buses are accepting our tickets and passes.” But trams have returned to a normal route.

In an updated tweet at 3.48pm, NET said: “We are running through to all destinations with extended wait times. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
