A major road has been closed after a ‘serious’ crash. The A50 has been closed eastbound towards the M1 between J2 of the A6 at Thulston and J1 for the B6540 Sawley.
Congestion has been reported through Cavendish Bridge as traffic diverts around the closure, which is expected to last hours. It is expected the closure will add to the Download Festival delays around Castle Donnington.
Road users are advised to take the slip road for the A6 Alvaston Bypass and continue for 4.6km onto the A5111 and follow the A5111 until it links up with the A52 eastbound. Motorists should continue on the A52 for approximately 8.0km to M1 Junction 25 and at the junction take the fifth exit on to the M1 southbound.
