Splendour festival has announced a new line-up of additional acts that will join the line-up for the two-day event on Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24. The festival is expected to bring thousands to Wollaton Park to see headliners such as Anne-Marie, Richard Ashcroft, Supergrass and Craig David.

The additional acts will be taking to a dedicated fringe stage which will include everything from stilt walkers to live poetry. The University of Nottingham’s acapella group, Radio Octave are joining the line-up ahead of their album release later this year.

There will be a Latin theme to some of the acts with Nottingham’s School of Samba bringing carnival colour on both days. If you fancy learning a dance move or two then Salsa Bae will be teaching some Latin moves with their fusion dance classes.

Popular club night, Bamalamasingsong will have the crowd singing karaoke classics. Agony aunt, Mrs Green will be on hand to dispense words of wisdom to the crowd while music collective Fat Digester will provide a unique mix of funk, soul, jazz and hip hop.

The Edi Johnston Bit will combine props, jokes and quizzes along with audience participation and bingo for a unique, unmissable experience. If you find yourself a bit overwhelmed by all the music and entertainment choices then Loving Rebellion Yoga will be on hand to offer a mindfulness yoga session to help you chill out.

The two-day event will also have plenty of laughs on the Comedy stage including ‘2021 British Comedian of the Year’ finalist Lindsey Santoro, Britain’s Got Talent stars Micky P Kerr, Steve Royle and Daliso Chaponda, the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, as well as Susan Murray.

The performers are split over the two days but Saturday will feature Bamalamasingsong, Nottingham school of Samba, The Edi Johnston Bit, Loving Rebellion Yoga, Salsa Bae and Mrs Green. Sunday performers will include Fat Digester, Nottingham School of Samba, Salsa Bae, Fringe Poetry and Radio Octave.

Splendour provides a platform for local musicians to perform in front of thousands of festival fans. This year, there are more than 20 different local acts confirmed for the event. This includes the winners of the Future Sound of Nottingham who will be revealed after the final on Sunday, July 3 at Rock City.

This is the first Splendour festival in three years due to Covid restrictions and it already promises to be even bigger than ever. Earlier this year, the organisers announced they would be introducing a second day of music with performances from Human League, Ocean Colour Scene and Razorlight.

The festival also brings together several of Nottingham’s best-loved food and drink vendors to give festival fans a wide choice of places to eat. Everything is on offer from burgers to fish and chips with plenty of veggie or vegan options. There will also be a number of beer tents dotted around the park.

Nottingham’s MemSaab will provide Indian cuisine while Nottingham’s Farmed Gourmet Burgers have also been confirmed for the event. Pokewaves will bring their healthy Hawaiian rice dishes while Hog and Roast will provide tasty options for meat-eaters. 200-degree coffee will also be on hand to provide a much-needed caffeine boost for festival-goers.

As well as food stalls, there will be a number of trade stalls where visitors can pick up everything from Caribbean arts and crafts, novelty jewellery, clothing and accessories. There will also be hair braiding and festival body art to help visitors perfect their festival look.
