Nottingham’s popular beach in Old Market Square will be returning this summer after a break of two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nottingham City Council and Mellor’s Group have confirmed that the beach will return from Monday, July 25 until September 4, with its usual sun, sand and water. It will open from 10am until 10pm every day and it is, as always, free to enter.

It will also include some exciting new rides and slides with options for everyone to get involved. This year will see the introduction of a new slip ‘n’ slide called The Arrow. where beach fans can race each other to the bottom. The slide will be 55 meters with two lanes.

Another attraction, called ‘Little John’ will give groups and families the opportunity to battle it out to the bottom as it will be a whopping six lanes wide at 22 meters long. The ‘Starflyer’ ride will soar 40 meters into the sky before rotating riders in every direction for scenic views.

If rides are not your thing or you prefer your activities closer to the ground then there is still loads to do. The beach will also have volleyball, football and salsa lessons to keep little ones entertained.

When it comes to food and drinks, the beach will have a full selection of bars on offer where you can soak up the sun and a cocktail or two. There will also be local beers and soft drinks on hand too.

James Mellors Jnr, Operations Director at Mellors Group, said: “We are beyond excited to be bringing Nottingham Beach back to Old Market Square this summer. We are a Nottingham-based family company and take huge pride in delivering a free-to-enter public event that is enjoyed by so many people from Nottingham and further afield.

“Nottingham Beach is the ultimate destination for families this summer, with an array of fun and games to be had. We look forward to seeing guests enjoying our beach and relaxing on Nottingham’s finest golden sands!”
