A Broxtowe man has been accused of arriving in England without a coronavirus testing kit. Malang Jatta, 42, of Lindfield Road, allegedly committed the offence at Manchester on February 26, 2021.

It is said he failed to possess a coronavirus testing package contrary to regulations 3B(2) and 6(1)(ab) and (4) of the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) (England) Regulations 2020, during the coronavirus outbreak.

From February 15, 2021, travellers to the UK had faced much tighter travel restrictions as the UK sought to reduce the spread of new Covid-19 variants from high-risk areas (known as red list countries).

The full details of the case against Jatta will be heard at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court. The case was listed on Monday, June 20, but Jatta did not attend the hearing and a new date was decided for August 15.
