Police have made an arrest after a man suffered facial injuries during a street attack. Officers were called to Burford Road, Radford, at around 12.15am on Tuesday, July 5, following reports someone had been assaulted.

A 57-year-old man had to be taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining facial injuries that aren’t at this stage believed to be life-altering. Police arrested a 43-year-old man shortly after the incident on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Sergeant Andy Buxton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an extremely serious incident that left a man in hospital with injuries that could have quite easily been far more severe.

“As a force, we strongly condemn all forms of violent crime and will always respond to each and every report we receive of this nature, so that we can help keep our communities safe.

“A police cordon remains in place while we continue to investigate this incident.

“We’d ask anyone who saw what happened or has any other information that could assist our inquiries to contact the police on 101, quoting incident 7 of 5 July 2022, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The man remains in police custody.
