Nottingham man to face murder trial after incident in city centre

A man accused of murder follwing an alleged attack in Nottingham city centre has appeared in court before his trial on August 30. Declan O’Donnell, 23, previously of Mansfield Road, Nottingham, attended the city’s crown court over a video link for a further case management hearing on Monday, June 13.

He was charged after police received reports of a man being attacked after an alleged incident was said to have been spotted on a social media live stream. Officers arrived at an address in Mansfield Road, in Nottingham city centre, at around 4am on Thursday, February 10.

O’Donnell previously appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 11, charged with causing grievous bodily harm and affray in connection with the incident.

However, the GBH charge has since been changed to a murder charge after the victim died following the incident. He is charged with the murder of Paul Cox on February 18. No plea has yet been entered.

O’Donnell, now of Gunthorpe Drive, Sherwood, is due to appear in court again on July 15 for a mention hearing. His trial is expected to last six to seven days.
