Police arrest two people after suspected house burglary in Mansfield

Two people have been arrested by police after the dog unit and officers were called to a suspected house burglary. The force carried out searches after they were called to reports of the house being burgled on Westfield Lane, Mansfield on Sunday, June 19.

Response officers spotted a man nearby acting suspiciously who matched the description of one of the suspects. He was arrested and the suspected stolen clothing was seized.

Officers then tracked down a second suspect who was detained as officers carried out enquires after receiving information that the offenders had run away from the scene. Bags containing suspected stolen property were found in an alleyway.

Two men, aged 28 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of burglary after the incident was reported. Detective Constable David Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We will always investigate reports of burglary with utmost seriousness and seek to identify suspects as quickly as possible.

“This was a great example of old-fashioned police teamwork which promptly resulted in the arrests of two suspects and seizure of suspected stolen goods. It’s a shining example of how our dedicated officers and police teams continue to work together to keep people safe, tackle crime in our communities and seek justice for victims.”
