Police officers have boarded a plane at East Midlands Airport to remove a group of men causing “annoyance and distress” to flight attendants and passengers. The incident was reported on the afternoon of Friday, July 5.

According to police at the airport, just off the M1 in Castle Donington, four men had to be removed from a passenger flight. Officers boarded the plane and removed the men, but the circumstances of the incident are not yet known.

East Midlands Airport Police said in a statement on Twitter: “This afternoon our team at East Midlands Airport had cause to board an aircraft to assist in the removal of four adult males who had caused annoyance and distress to aircrew and fellow passengers. Fly responsibly or you could pay the price.”

The force has shared advice on flying etiquette, including drinking “one too many” beverages. The force warned people may face up to two years in prison for disrupting a flight, as well as a £5,000 fine for delaying a take-off or an £80,000 fine for a mid-flight event which leads to a diversion.
