A popular pub in Giltbrook has been transformed following a major investment from the owners, Greene King Pub Partners. The newly renovated Hayloft pub on Nottingham Road will reopen to the public on Thursday, July 7 at 5pm.

The pub has undergone a £350,000 transformation which has created 18 new full and part-time positions. The pub is also still recruiting for even more roles.

The venue will be run as a Hive Pub which is a new type of franchise pub brand from Greene King Partners. This will mean a new modern interior and exterior.

The extensive beer range at the community pub will include world lagers, premium lagers, cask ale and craft beers. There will also be an extensive bar menu with something for everyone including pub classics and tasty desserts. Sunday roasts will also be back in full swing at the weekends.

For sports fans, there will also be Sky Sports and BT Sports subscriptions so that the pub can host big game nights and viewings. The team also shared photos of new pool tables which have been added to the premises.

Franchisees Colin and Sandra Meakin are returning to the pub trade after leaving to have children. They have both got extensive experience in running pubs and hotels prior to joining the Hayloft.

Colin and Sandra are excited about the launch. They said: We cannot wait to welcome people into the new look Hayloft. The pub has been completely transformed inside and out! It’s stunning.”

“We used to run pubs and hotels, but have spent some time out of the trade. With the kids grown up, we wanted to get back to the industry we fell in love with. We’re really excited to do what we do best and have missed so much – serving our customers great pub grub and drinks – and putting smiles on faces.”

Earlier this year, the brewery put out a call for ‘successful entrepreneurs’ who would be interested in taking over the pub. The new franchise Hive idea was launched in November with a promise of significant investment for anyone who wanted to take it on.

Andy Wearn, Business Development Manager at Greene King Pub Partners said:

“Following our £350k investment, The Hayloft has been transformed. Locals are in for a real treat with what will be an incredible pub – led by Colin and Sandra.”
