Residents are reeling after the ‘very sad’ discovery of the bodies of a man and woman in their home in a Nottinghamshire town. Police were called to Vine Way, Newark on Tuesday, June 14, after concerns were raised about the welfare of the elderly couple.

The couple were in their 80s and their deaths are not being treated by the police as suspicious. Residents in the area have shared their feelings on the “upsetting” event and expressed how they hope that the police will be able to find out what happened.

After being told what happened a number of houses away, a resident on Beacon Hill Road said: “I’m sorry to hear that, it’s all very sad.” Another resident in the nearby area on The Ropewalk said that what has happened with the couple “is sad and unfortunate.”
